Blacktop Maintenance Corp. Prepares Hygiene Kits for Every Crew
BY AsphaltPro Staff
Blacktop Maintenance Corp., Poughkeepsie, New York, shared a great idea with AsphaltPro on social media about how the company has provided each of its crews with hygiene kits to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Each kit is supplied with Clorox type wipes, gloves (latex and disposable work type), multiple hand sanitizers, antibacterial aerosol cleaner (for wiping down machines at end of shift), paper towels, N95 masks, alcohol hand swabs, and trash bags for all the waste from the kits each day. The containers themselves were purchased at Staples.
Blacktop Maintenance President Stewart Petrovits estimates that each kit cost around $50. With shortages of hygiene supplies plaguing many stores around the country, it took Petrovits an entire Saturday of “visiting every grocery store and home improvement store around to acquire all the stuff.” The company already had some items, such as masks and gloves, in its office inventory.
Blacktop Maintenance Corp. is also wisely assigning only one employee per machine, as well as following other safety recommendations.
“[The hygiene kits] only work if the employees utilize them and clean their work stations,” Petrovits told us on our LinkedIn page. “But it provides the necessities to safely get back to work.”
