Canada
GreenMantra Technologies, Brantford, Canada, and EMCO Chemical Distributors, Pleasant Prairie, Wis., have signed an exclusive agreement for EMCO to distribute GreenMantra’s line of Ceranovus® wax products—and other GreenMantra specialty chemicals—in North America. The company uses a proprietary thermo-catalytic system and patented process to transform recycled polyolefin plastics into waxes, greases, lubricants and other specialty chemicals for use in the coatings, plastics, adhesives, roofing and paving industries.

- On May 16, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) committee sent its 38th letter report to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to support the further success of the program. In this year’s letter, the committee requested a briefing on priorities assigned to LTPP’s activities, and suggested an analysis be conducted to address the long-term consequences of reducing LTPP’s annual funding. Alabama
The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT), Auburn, schedules certain training courses on request. The one and one-half day course for Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA)/Open Graded Friction Course (OGFC) Mix Design and Construction provides a basic understanding of the mixes while giving attendees knowledge of the state-of-the-art practice for materials, mix design, construction and specs. Colorado
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) geohazards program gets to look into a crystal ball and prioritize the mitigation of rock falls. According to the June 25 Durango Herald online, officials have to give priority to areas that could be considered hazardous or where they erosion “precipitates rockfalls,” and look for pre-construction funding to build protection, etc.
Florida
An international line-up of speakers has been confirmed for this year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS), which takes place in Miami, Oct. 14. This is its first time in the United States. The Summit, which has always been held in Europe, is established as one of the major annual international events for the demolition industry and is organized in cooperation with the Demolition & Recycling International magazine, of interest to our recycling facilities partners.
Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is implementing the Multiple Stress Creep Recovery (MSCR) for binders, and anticipates most 2017 projects will use the MSCR spec. Source: NCAT Technology News
New Jersey
NJ.com reported June 28 that the state Assembly had approved a bill—A12—to cut the state’s sales tax for everyone “in exchange for raising the gas tax by 23 cents a gallon to rescue the near-broke Transportation Trust Fund.”
North Carolina
The North Carolina Supreme Court has decided the state owes money to property owners whose land has been affected by the MAP Act, thus The House Transportation Committee in Raleigh is treading carefully. The committee approved a bill June 28 that prevents the DOT from creating new corridor maps and puts highway construction plans on hold until things get straightened out. Source: WRAL.com
Pennsylvania
McLaren Engineering Group is opening its newest office in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to expand its roster of public and private sector clients in the Lehigh Valley. The new office will be developing McLaren’s transportation and entertainment divisions.
