Trimble Connects 3D Models to Field Layout for Civil Work
BY AsphaltPro Staff
Trimble, Westminster, Colorado, announced on Aug. 13, 2026, the launch of Trimble® SketchUp® Pro Civil Contractor, a connected software solution that combines its SketchUp 3D modeling software with the Trimble Siteworks positioning system for accurate site layout and quality control, allowing civil contractors to move from design to field execution. Designed for contractors performing earthwork, grading and utility construction, SketchUp Pro Civil Contractor gives users without deep 3D modeling skills an intuitive way to create 3D earthwork models in Trimble SketchUp and bring them into Trimble Siteworks and the Trimble Earthworks grade control platform. This connected 3D-to-field workflow carries a single digital model from design through layout, construction and verification, thus reducing rework and improving accuracy, according to the manufacturer.
SketchUp Pro Civil Contractor bridges the gap between a 3D model and raw terrain, enabling contractors to model with topography, transfer 3D model data and geolocated points into Trimble Siteworks to guide control-point stakeout and excavation layout, keep data consistent, and more.
Trimble SketchUp Pro Civil Contractor is available to Trimble Siteworks users as an annual subscription through the SketchUp eCommerce store.
