Sealcoat material sure is easy to drip and spill around a parking lot project. The last thing you want to do is irritate a paying customer by dripping sticky stuff on a curb or bit of landscaping. Besides hiring workers who care about the job, train them for pristine and careful work.
QUICK TIP: Use something as simple as a piece of stiff cardboard, conveyor belting, or roofing material to guard curbs, gutters, or grassy areas as you perform cut-in work around these areas.
Equipment manufacturers are happy to charge a fee to add guards to spray wands and machines, and those are nice options to include if you have the funds.
Another option is to overcoat within a foot of curbs, landscaping features, gutters and so on. Then use a squeegee to spread the material up to the edge to be sealed. Either way, this attention to detail takes a skilled worker and patience.
Train for this kind of quality and you’ll be rewarded with satisfied customers who don’t call you back to clean curbs.
EXTRA TIP: Make sure you cover drains and utility caps/manhole covers prior to working so you have no fear of contamination or overspray.
