Wendy Lou Bloedow started her construction career as a laborer in the Operating Engineers Local 139’s operating engineer program and worked her way up to join the asphalt industry in 2009. Now she’s a paving foreman for Rock Road and took some time from those responsibilities to share her story as a woman of asphalt.

Chelsea A. Ellis is the President/CEO at Jim Reynolds Asphalt Contractor Inc., headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, as well as a motivator, marketer and author. Since joining the company in 2014 as an estimator, Chelsea has gained extensive experience in operating every piece of equipment and has actively taken on all company roles.

Deborah “Deb” Schwerman’s first construction industry job started in the summer of 1993 when she was in college. Now, she’s the executive director of the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA), which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
