Meet Superior Construction’s WIC Initiative: Florida general contractor encourages women in construction with employment program

After graduating from Georgia Tech in 2002 with a degree in Civil Engineering, Mandy Neese joined the asphalt industry as an estimator for APAC. Neese joined Atlanta Paving in 2009 and now serves as the company’s vice president.

Jeani Brasier started working in the asphalt industry in 1994 at Brasier Asphalt. Now, she owns her own company within the construction industry, StoryBuilt Growth Strategy and Marketing.

Maria Bennett joined the asphalt industry and Lehman-Roberts Company, Memphis, Tennessee, in 2018 and works for the company as its contract administrator.

Karen Hubacz, president and CEO of Bond Construction, Spencer, Massachusetts, is the first chairwoman of the NSSGA, accepting the gavel during the association’s annual membership meeting at the 2022 annual convention in Nashville in March.

Superior Asphalt Inc., Grand Rapids, Michigan, employs a number of women from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are making a name for themselves in the asphalt industry.

Back in the late 1990s, Jodi Loud had the opportunity to work at CMA, her brother’s construction company, in a variety of roles. She has carried the experience into her new role as president of Tri-State Emulsions Corp.

As the quality control technician for Aggregate Industries Northeast Region Inc., Tracy Richard’s career in the asphalt industry began in her early thirties and she has encouragement for other women considering a similar career change.
