While this isn’t a tip to take out to the field, it’s a quick reminder that the bits and pieces you’re storing over winter need the same TLC that heavy equipment does. It makes sense that you’d want to remove sensitive parts from machines that don’t “fit” under shelter or indoors during the down-season to protect them from inclement weather.
Keep in mind, electrical motors are sensitive to vibrations, moisture, cold temperatures and so on. If your mechanic’s plan is to protect various components by storing them in a garage over winter, take a couple extra steps along this laudable path. Make sure the garage is either climate-controlled or you can protect the components going in from elements—or rodents—that sneak in.
