Positive Reinforcement for Workforce Development
BY AsphaltPro Staff
Here’s a quick idea for your workforce development efforts going into the 2026 season. Level up your recognition practices. We’re not suggesting that everyone needs a participation trophy, but calling out a worker’s name during the morning tailgate talk and acknowledging his or her contribution to a project goes a long way toward boosting morale.
Go ahead and say, “You kept the truck drivers on task yesterday and that’s why we didn’t have to send any cold mix back to the plant. Thank you.” Or, “You kept track of the rollers’ water tanks so no one was running out at a bad moment. Thank you for that.” It sounds simple, but it shows everyone on the crew that you appreciate their work and you’re paying attention to the details. And the details matter.
During CONEXPO-CON/AGG a month from now, Rogers Group Inc. is bringing three workers to the Reliable Asphalt Products stage to show appreciation in a much more visible way. You’re invited to that. Come to booth C32804 at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 4 to celebrate a new hire, an advancing worker, and a retiring worker. Hang out in the booth afterward to talk asphalt with everyone and see how other companies are approaching workforce development.
