Prevent Equipment Seizures with Auto-Greasers Around the Plant

With winter downtime almost upon us in North America, we’re looking at best practices to shut down equipment for the winter. Traditional lubrication methods often require your ground crew to stretch, strain and climb while attempting to keep up with a schedule that may not yet be digitized.

The first thing you want to do is “digitize” the schedule. Make a plan that alerts your groundman or mechanic to the timing for greasing/lubricating vital points around the plant.

Next, consider installing an automatic greasing system. This is a set of devices, mounted directly on the lubrication points, filled at appointed times (during the warm season), to do the greasing work for you.

Remember: Automatic greasers only work if you keep them full, but they can make life better by locking out contaminants, saving fuel with continuous working parts, reducing routine maintenance, and so on.
