Let’s face it, as we move into season start-up at this time of year, managers might be getting nervous about finding those quality workers from 2023 available and ready to come on back for 2024’s construction season.
Offering steady employment is one more way to entice folks to join—and remain in—our workforce. The family company of American Pavement Specialists (APS), Danbury, Connecticut, shared its more recent upgrade for making hot-mix asphalt (HMA) to retain work and workers throughout the year. The company traded in a pair of Bagela recyclers for one larger Bagela, produced 250 tons of 100% recycled HMA for the city, and fed that material through a modified Trout River haul truck to repair a 4-foot-wide trench in the dead of winter.
