Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Awards 2022 Prizes for Teaching Excellence
Harbor Freight has surprised 20 outstanding public high school skilled trades teachers across the United States with the news that they’ve been named winners of the 2022 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.
Harbor Freight Tools for Schools is a program of The Smidt Foundation established by Harbor Freight Tools founder Eric Smidt. “We awarded a total of $1.25 million in cash prizes to these remarkable teachers and their schools,” Schmidt said. “It’s great to see the pride and respect this recognition is generating in their communities.”
Since 2017, the program has awarded more than $6 million to more than 100 U.S. public high school teachers and their schools — supporting tens of thousands of students along the way.
“We deeply appreciate the work skilled trades teachers do to prepare and inspire our next generation of tradespeople,” Schmidt said. “Their work is urgently needed, because while America’s need for building and repairs is growing, our skilled trades workforce is shrinking.”
