The CalAPA Southern California Paving Contractor Committee has published a number of safety checklists for asphalt pavement project managers, paving crews and plant operators.
According to CalAPA, the checklists cover pre-construction startup, work zone evaluation, plant safety best practices, daily operations and project shutdown.
“As new workers continue to come into the asphalt pavement industry, the CalAPA strategic plan has identified work-force development and training as a top priority, particularly as it relates to safety,” reads CalAPA’s weekly newsletter, which announced the recently published checklists. “The checklists may represent a refresher for experienced hands as well as an important tool for newer workers.”
CalAPA also extended its appreciation to the Indiana Asphalt Pavement Association for sharing similar tools developed in that state, which were then modified for use in California.
The checklists, which are in PDF format, can be downloaded from the CalAPA Safety Page HERE.
