Happy NASCAR Day! America rides on asphalt–and so does NASCAR.
Earlier this month, Dover International Speedway workers had to repair an area in turn 2 of the Dover, Delaware-based race track. Two 3-foot-by-3-foot pieces of concrete had come up and needed to be replaced before last weekend’s race.
In response to a tweet about the repair, Dale Earnhardt Jr. said it best: “Asphalt is for racing. Concrete is for sidewalks.”
We couldn’t agree more, Dale!
Asphalt is for racing. Concrete is for sidewalks.

Dover workers repaired area in Turn 2 where two approximate 3″-by-3″ pieces of concrete came up. They cut it out a bit larger and replaced it. Not unusual track maintenance for a race weekend. pic.twitter.com/EkbTZyqc0S
