Reach Out to Reps to Urge State DOT Stimulus Support
BY NSSGA
NSSGA encourages folks in our industry to send letters to Congress to ensure provisions for state DOTs in current stimulus talks. Check out the link below to send a pre-written letter to your reps to encourage Congress to help our industry.
Without Federal assistance, State DoTs are vulnerable to disruption due to lack of funding resources as a direct result of the COVID-19 crisis. As our nation continues to adjust to the compounding impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative that State Departments of Transportation (DoTs) receive federal relief in response to significant revenue shortfalls that will impact the immediate implementation of highway and bridge projects across the country.
Any interruption to State DoT execution of funds for current public works directly impacts the construction industry and those that produce the essential building materials necessary for such projects. The current average revenue loss for such projects at the state level is 30 percent.
Please contact your Member of Congress and ask for this federal backstop, so State DoTs can continue operations, keeping engineers and planners employed to continue surface infrastructure projects for the next 18 months.
