Meet Shannon Gaunt, Construction Angels National Board of Director Representing Illinois
BY Construction Angels
Shannon Gaunt is the President of Gaunt Enterprises, a trucking and excavating company out of Illinois. Her husband was killed June 23 by a truck while on the side of the road in a construction zone securing the load on his trailer. The driver of the truck did not slow down or move over and her husband Richard was hit from behind killing him instantly. He was always very safety conscious on the job but their lives were changed forever on that day. Their sons Shane (29) and Ross (25) are in the construction industry as well.
The family wanted to donate lieu of flowers to a charity, something that could raise awareness for road construction safety. In the meantime, they created a fund in his name and raised over $21,000! They were honored to receive a donation from Construction Angels and wanted like to help bring Construction Angels to Illinois to help other construction families in their state. She recently hosted a Facebook Fundraiser for her birthday raising $3,800 additional dollars!
On August 18th, The Construction Angels National Board of Directors unanimously voted Shannon to be a part of its charity, helping families in the state of Illinois and joining us as the organization’s state representative. Shannon greatly accepted the opportunity to become an Angel and turn a terrible event into her new passion.
Because of her, Construction Angels will now be in 13 states before the end of this year.
