Highway and Bridge Building Continues to Spike

On the third anniversary of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), highway construction activity continues to reach unprecedented levels. In September, the total value of transportation construction market activity hit $21.6 billion, reflecting a 2.5 percent increase from $21 billion in September 2023. Year-to-date, highway and bridge construction has surged by 9.2 percent, setting a record-breaking $108 billion in activity.
