NAPA Award Winners Lead the Way

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) honored winners and finalists of its 2015 Operational Excellence Awards at a special ceremony today (July 18) during the association’s Midyear Meeting in Seattle.
“NAPA members strive for excellence in constructing high-quality asphalt pavements and in every aspect of their operations. The five Operational Excellence Awards categories — Asphalt Operations Safety Innovation, Community Involvement, Ecological, Outstanding Brochure, and Outstanding Website — recognize a company’s commitment to operational practices that make them good contractors, good industry ambassadors, and good neighbors,” NAPA Chairman Kevin Kelly said.
The 2015 winners and finalists honored during the ceremony included:
- Oldcastle Materials—Montana Companies, Helena, Montana; Payne & Dolan Inc., Waukesha, Wisconsin; Superior Paving Corp., Gainesville, Virginia; and Valley Asphalt Corp., Cincinnati, Ohio, for asphalt operations safety innovation.
- The Mid-Central Division of Rogers Group Inc., Gallatin, Tennessee, and The Community Team at Silver Star Construction Co. Inc., Moore, Oklahoma, for community involvement.
- Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC, North Venice, for Plant 1 in North Venice for the existing plant ecological award.
- Payne & Dolan Inc., Waukesha, Wisconsin, for Control #10, LaGrange, Wisconsin, for the new plant ecological award.
- Staker Parson Cos., an Oldcastle Materials company, Ogden, Utah, for the Brigham City plant, for the new plant ecological award finalist.
- The Earle Companies, Wall, New Jersey, for the outstanding brochure award.
- The Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association, Centennial, and its co-asphalt.com, for the outstanding website award for a state asphalt pavement association.
- The Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association, Springfield, and its il-asphalt.org, for the outstanding website award finalist for a state asphalt pavement association.
The Operational Excellence Awards honor leaders in the asphalt pavement industry for innovation and excellence in marketing, communications and community outreach. Companies also are lauded for their responsible practices with the safety innovations and the ecological awards. The NAPA Awards Program recognizes and encourages continuous improvement in all aspects of asphalt production and paving operations. The 2016 NAPA Awards program is currently accepting nominations. Quality in Construction Award nominations are due by Oct. 7; Operational Excellence Award nominations are due by Dec. 2.
