Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association Opens WAPA Asphalt Awards Nominations, Scholarship Application

The Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association has announced it will be awarding at least two WAPA Student Scholarships in 2022. WAPA has also opened nominations for the WAPA Asphalt Awards.

WAPA Student Scholarships

The two scholarships include one engineering scholarship for $2,000:

• This award is open to undergraduates and graduate students studying civil engineering or construction engineering enrolled at an accredited Wisconsin university or Michigan Technological University as of fall 2022.
• Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry.
• Special consideration will be given to Wisconsin residents with sophomore or junior status as of the 2022-2023 academic year.

And one engineering technician scholarship for $1,000:

• This award is open to engineering technology students enrolled at a Wisconsin technical college as of fall 2022.
• Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry.

Students must apply for the scholarships via the Online Application Form and provide transcripts and letters of recommendation by November 3. Winners will be recognized during the online 2022 Annual WAPA Conference.

WAPA Asphalt Awards

WAPA has also opened nominations for the WAPA Asphalt Awards, which recognize technological advancements and innovations in asphalt pavements for three recipient categories:

Anyone can make a nomination, and organizations may self-nominate by filling out the Online Nomination Form to nominate a public agency or private company for an innovative project or practice that is helping advance the quality and performance of asphalt pavements in the state of Wisconsin.

Nominations are due by Thursday, November 3, and winners will be recognized at the 2022 Annual WAPA Conference.
